Indonesia Mengglobal (IM) is recruiting new team members for the period of Jan – Dec 2016. Please click on the respective links below to learn more about the different roles we are recruiting as well as to apply:

  1. Content Directors – Editors and Columnists covering the North America region (e.g. U.S. & Canada), Europe (e.g. EU & UK), Asia, or Australia

  2. Communication Directors  – Social Media and Engagement managing Indonesia Mengglobal’s social media accounts and offline events and partnerships

  3. Tech Director – responsible to drive projects to revamp the Indonesia Mengglobal website and making sure that the online operations of our team is running smoothly

  4. Mentorship Chair – responsible to execute Indonesia Mengglobal’s 2016 Mentorship Program to help approximately 30 mentees to apply to schools overseas through guidance from their mentors

The new team will fit into a new organizational structure in Indonesia Mengglobal with the following entities:

  • IM team – includes all the positions (content directors, columnists, communication directors, and tech director) responsible for daily operations in IM.

  • IM team leader – in charge of overseeing the team. Robyn Soetikno is the team leader for 2016.

  • Alumni – reserved for team members who have graduated from Indonesia Mengglobal.

  • Advisory committee – provides advice to the team and meet up once every few months to provide inputs and feedback. The advisory committee includes Veni Johanna, Stevia Angesty, Donny Eryastha and Martin Tjioe.

Team members of the current period will be eligible to become team leaders in the next period.

The deadline of application for the various roles above for the 2016 period is 1st December 2015. Once the application has closed, we will schedule interviews with the candidates. New team members will begin their roles on 1st January 2016.

CONTENT DIRECTORS – EDITORS

Indonesia Mengglobal is looking for Content Directors – Editing for the North American, European, Asian, and Australian regions to be part of our core team. Our editors play an important role in assisting our valued contributors to ensure timely publication of articles that meet our editorial standard. Editors are expected to honor the time and effort of our contributors by responding to their questions and concerns quickly and facilitating them through the editorial process in a professional manner. If you enjoy getting to know new Indonesian students and are committed to assisting them respectfully, this position is for you!

Nature of the position

This is an unpaid part-time position for the period of Jan-Dec 2016. The editor is expected to commit on average three hours per week during the period. As the work is done remotely, the  directors can be  based anywhere.

Roles and responsibilities

To oversee the whole editorial cycle from recruiting contributors to editing, scheduling and publishing articles

  • Responding to contributors’ emails and messages in a timely manner, within a maximum of 2 days

  • Publishing a minimum of two articles every month

  • Bringing in new contributors from personal network, apart from assisting those who have signed up to contribute through our site

  • Being actively involved in strategy formulation of Indonesia Mengglobal

  • Working closely with the team leaders and other editors to manage Indonesia Mengglobal

Who are we looking for?

A Content Director must be:

  • A student or alumni of higher education institution in the specified regions (e.g. USA & Canada, Europe, Asia, or Australia) with an Indonesian background.

  • Communicative and responsive to the intense online communication with contributors and between team members. Punctual and committed to work deadlines.

  • Connected to the extensive network of Indonesian students and alumni of the region.

  • Experienced in writing in English and Bahasa Indonesia, preferably with prior editorial experience.

  • Proficient in using Office applications. Familiarity with project management application, WordPress blogging templates, and html programming language is a plus.

CONTENT DIRECTORS – COLUMNISTS

Indonesia Mengglobal is looking for Content Directors – Columnists to be part of our core team. Columnists portray the subtleties of their experiences through their monthly articles which was often sought by readers. If you often find yourself over-sharing or bursting with stories about your experience, you are born for this position!

 

Nature of the position

This is an unpaid part-time position for the period of Jan-Dec 2016. The columnist is expected to commit on average six hours per month during the period. As the work is done remotely, the  directors can be  based anywhere.

Roles and responsibilities

To provide Indonesia Mengglobal readers with a better understanding of studying abroad or life after returning from abroad via day-to-day stories.

  • Publishing a minimum of one article per month in English or Bahasa Indonesia

  • Showing a glimpse of daily life through photographs and words to our readers a) while studying abroad, or b) after returning to Indonesia from studying abroad

  • Interacting with readers via comments

  • Working closely with editors and the team leaders to develop Indonesia Mengglobal

Why become a columnist?

  • Share your stories and experiences with readers of  Indonesia Mengglobal to increase understanding of student life overseas

A columnist must be:

  • Either a) a current student or b) an alumni of a higher education institution in a foreign country, with an Indonesian background

  • Experienced in writing in English or Bahasa Indonesia, preferably with prior writing or blogging experience

  • Have a willingness to share stories and experiences

  • Communicative and responsive to the intense online communication between team members. Punctual and committed to work deadlines

  • Proficient in using Office applications. Familiarity with WordPress blogging templates and Photoshop is a plus

Communication Director – Social Media

Indonesia Mengglobal is looking for a Communication Director – Social Media  to be part of our core team. Communication Director – Social Media will be in charge for Indonesia Mengglobal’s communication through our social media assets and play an important role as the lead communicator of our work and activities online. If you are social media savvy and love to interact with people, this position is for you!

 

Nature of the position

This is an unpaid part-time position for the period of Jan-Dec 2016. The Communication Director – Social Media is expected to commit on average 3 hours per week during the period. As the work is done remotely, the director can be based anywhere.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Managing Indonesia Mengglobal’s Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube account; including but not limited to daily posts and updates

  • Leading the design and execution of online events and communication

  • Becoming an online resource for questions related to our activities and events

Communication Director – Engagement

Indonesia Mengglobal is looking for a Communication Director – Engagement to be part of our core team. Our Communication Director – Engagement will be in charge for managing IM’s online and offline engagement. If you are organised, a planner, enjoy getting to know people, and have keen interest towards social media, we can’t wait to have you on board!

Nature of the position

This is an unpaid part – time position for the period of Jan-Dec 2016. Communication Director – Engagement is expected to commit on average 3 hours per week during the period doing remote work and organise an offline event at least 1x a year in Jakarta. Thus, the position must be based in Jakarta.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews with our contributors through social media, i.e hosting #IMChat on Twitter and Google Hangout to be posted on our Youtube channel

  • Plan and organise at least 1 offline seminar in collaboration with external parties

  • Leading the design and execution of online events together with Communication Director – Social Media

Tech Director

Indonesia Mengglobal is looking for a Tech Director to be part of our core team. Our tech director will be responsible to drive projects to revamp the Indonesia Mengglobal website and making sure that the online operations of our team is running smoothly. If you are an aspiring software engineer or product manager, this would be a great role for you!

Nature of the position

This is an unpaid part – time position for the period of Jan-Dec 2016. Tech director is expected to commit on average 4 hours per week during the period. As the work is done remotely, the  director can be  based anywhere.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Driving and executing on technical projects to revamp the Indonesia Mengglobal website

  • Managing improvements to our current website

  • Ensuring that online operations of Indonesia Mengglobal team is running smoothly.

  • Have previous experience with building or coordinating the building of web products

  • Creative, communicative and responsive to online communication

Mentorship Chair

This is an unpaid part-time position for the period of Jan-Dec 2016. The Mentorship Chair is expected to commit on average three hours per week during the period between June and September, and an hour a week for the rest of the year. As the work is done remotely, the Mentorship Chair can be based anywhere.

Roles and responsibilities:

To execute the 2016 Indonesia Mengglobal Mentorship Program. This free program will match approximately 30 mentees with suitable mentors who will guide them through applications to schools abroad. Over a period of three months, mentees will complete assignments to better prepare themselves in writing essays, drafting resume, asking for letters of recommendation, practicing standardized tests, and choosing schools.

  • Oversee selection of mentees and ensure an optimal match between mentors and mentees

  • Distribute online assignments to the mentees in a timely fashion

  • Facilitate interactions among mentees and between mentors and mentees, e.g. through group work, mentors’ sharing sessions, etc

  • Responding to emails and messages in a timely manner, within a maximum of 2 days

  • Being actively involved in strategy formulation of Indonesia Mengglobal

  • Working closely with the team leaders and other editors to manage Indonesia Mengglobal
