Hello! It is that time of the year again.

Indonesia Mengglobal (IM) is recruiting new team members for the period of February 1, 2018 – January 31, 2019. Below are the different roles that you can apply for:

  1. Editors – covering the North America region (i.e. U.S. & Canada), Europe (i.e. EU & the UK), Asia, or Australia.
  2. Columnists – covering the North America region (i.e. U.S. & Canada), Europe (i.e. EU & the UK), Asia, or Australia.
  3. Communications and Social Media – covering IM’s communication strategy, including content creation for social media and daily management of IM’s social media channels.
  4. Mentorship Coordinators – working closely with Mentorship Head to ensure successful outreach and promotion of our mentorship program, smooth admission process with fair pairing of mentors and mentees, and commendable delivery of quality curriculum.
  5. Partnership and Events – covering IM’s partnership and offline events, including liaising with third-party potential and existing partners and donors, as well as in charge of the activities pertaining to Yayasan Indonesia Mengglobal.
  6. Analytics – overseeing and providing data-driven feedbacks to all division within IM.

Team members of the current period are eligible to become team leaders or to maintain their position in the next period, and it will be decided on case-by-case basis.

EDITORS

Indonesia Mengglobal is looking for Editors for the North American, European, Asian, and Australian regions to be part of our core team. Our editors play an important role in assisting our valued contributors to ensure timely publication of articles that meet our editorial standard. Editors are expected to honor the time and effort of our contributors by promptly responding to their questions and concerns and facilitating them through the editorial process in a professional manner. If you enjoy getting to know new Indonesian students and professionals, and are committed to assisting them to publish great editorial content for IM, this position is for you!

Nature of the position

The editor is expected to commit on average three hours per week during the period. As the work is done remotely and online, Editors can be based anywhere.

Roles and responsibilities

To oversee the whole editorial cycle from recruiting contributors to editing, scheduling and publishing articles.

  • Responding to contributors’ emails and messages in a timely manner, within a maximum of 2 days.
  • Publishing a minimum of three articles every month – two articles from contributors that the Editor solicited or are being referred to by Indonesia Mengglobal’s team leader, and one article from columnist.
  • Bringing in new contributors from personal network, apart from assisting those who have signed up to contribute through our site.
  • Being actively involved in strategy formulation of Indonesia Mengglobal.
  • Working closely with the team leaders and other editors to manage Indonesia Mengglobal.

Who are we looking for?

An Editor must be:

  • A student or alumni of higher education institution in the specified regions (e.g. USA & Canada, Europe, Asia, or Australia) with an Indonesian background.
  • Communicative and responsive to the intense online communication with contributors and between team members. Punctual and committed to work deadlines.
  • Connected to the extensive network of Indonesian students and alumni of the region.
  • Experienced in writing in English and Bahasa Indonesia, preferably with prior editorial experience.
  • Proficient in using Office applications. Familiarity with project management application, WordPress blogging templates, and HTML programming language is a plus.

COLUMNISTS

Indonesia Mengglobal is looking for Columnists to be part of our core team. Columnists share the subtleties of their experiences through monthly articles. If you often find yourself over-sharing or bursting with stories about your experience, you are born for this position!

Nature of the position

The columnist is expected to commit on average six hours per month during the period. As the work is done remotely, Columnists can be based anywhere.

Roles and responsibilities

To provide Indonesia Mengglobal readers with a better understanding of studying abroad or life after returning from abroad via day-to-day stories.

  • Publishing a minimum of one article per month in English or Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Showing a glimpse of daily life through photographs and words to our readers a) while studying abroad, or b) after returning to Indonesia from studying abroad.
  • Interacting with readers via comments.
  • Working closely with editors and the team leaders to develop Indonesia Mengglobal.

  • Either a) a current student or b) an alumni of a higher education institution in a foreign country, with an Indonesian background.
  • Passionate and confident in writing in English or Bahasa Indonesia, preferably with prior writing or blogging experience.
  • Have a willingness to share stories and experiences.
  • Communicative and responsive to the intense online communication between team members. Punctual and committed to work deadlines.
  • Proficient in using Office applications. Familiarity with WordPress blogging templates and Photoshop is a plus.

COMMUNICATIONS AND SOCIAL MEDIA (HEAD, CONTENT CREATOR, AND SOCIAL MEDIA LEAD) 

Indonesia Mengglobal is looking for Communications and Social Media (CSM) Head, Content Creator, and Social Media Lead. The division head will oversee development of communications and social media strategies for IM. Content Creator is expected to design and provide creative feedback on contents for social media distribution. Social Media Lead will be in charge of IM’s social media assets: YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accounts, by posting the content and responding to our audience’s inquiries. All roles within the CSM division play an important role as the lead communicator of our work and activities online. Nature of the position

All roles within the CSM division require a 4-5 hours’ weekly time commitment on average. As the work is done remotely, team members can be based anywhere.

COMMUNICATIONS AND SOCIAL MEDIA HEAD
Roles and responsibilities

  • Managing the flow IM’s social media accounts, including overseeing daily posts and updates.
  • Preparing content calendar for execution by Social Media Lead and guiding Content Creator on design development.
  • Increasing our social media followers and impact, including managing performance metrics.
  • With the help of Social Media Lead, soliciting videos of campus tours and/or students and alumni testimony from IM’s contributors and readers.
  • With the help of Social Media Lead, contacting potential guest profiles for interview and other collaboration opportunities.

CONTENT CREATORS
Roles and responsibilities

  • Executing (designing images or creating videos) social media content strategy that has been laid out by the CSM Head.
  • Coordinating with social media lead and head of communication.

Who are we looking for?

  • Must be comfortable working with photo and video editing software/application such as Photoshop, Canva, iMovie, or Windows Movie Makers.
  • Are following the latest trend on social media so that we can replicate the learning in Indonesia Mengglobal’s social media platforms.
  • Are willing to contribute 4-5 hours per week for making content.

SOCIAL MEDIA LEAD
Roles and responsibilities:

  • Maintaining (posting on and responding to readers’ inquiries) Indonesia Mengglobal’s social media assets.
  • Writing captions/blurbs that can sell Indonesia Mengglobal’s articles to readers.
  • Coordinating with content creator and CSM Head.

Who are we looking for?

  • Must be comfortable working with social media management tool such as Hootsuite.
  • Have a fluid, conversational writing skill in Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Must be willing to learn about social media metrics to measure the performance of posts in order to assist the Head to prepare effective strategies.

MENTORSHIP COORDINATORS

We are looking for 2 mentorship coordinators to assist in our annual mentorship program. Mentorship coordinators will be working closely with our Head of Mentorship to ensure successful outreach and promotion of the program, smooth admission process with fair pairing of mentors and mentees, and commendable delivery of quality curriculum. You are a great candidate for this role if you are intrinsically driven to help Indonesian students improve their chances of being accepted in schools abroad and can set aside sufficient time amidst your busy schedule to work in a team environment to deliver this program.

Nature of the position

The mentorship coordinator is expected to commit on average three hours per week, with peak working hours usually committed in the months of April – August 2018 (the recruitment, onboarding, and execution stages of the program). As the work is done remotely, mentorship coordinator can be based anywhere.

Roles and responsibilities

Indonesia Mengglobal Mentorship is a three-month program that goes from July to September and can be broken into four main aspects: promotion, admission, curriculum, and external partnership. Mentorship coordinators are involved in all four aspects but can choose to focus on an aspect during off-peak periods:

  1. Promotion

The objective of the promotion phase is to reach out to as many prospective mentors and mentees as possible and get the words out about the benefits of the mentorship program. Tasks during the promotion phase include:

  • Gathering testimonials from past mentees as promotional resources.
  • Working with the communication team to create posters to promote the program and to spread the words about the program through our social media channels.
  • Coordinating with the content team to create post articles for mentorship announcements.
  1. Admission

Our mentorship program pairs each mentee with a matching mentor and attempts to provide opportunities to as many mentees as there are qualified mentors. The pairing considers the preferences of both mentors and mentees to ensure a fair process and a sustainable mentor-mentee relationship. This is done by requesting mentors/mentees to pick and rank their top mentees/mentors and honoring these rankings during pairing. The mentorship application opens for both mentors and mentees simultaneously for a period of one month. Tasks during the admission phase include:

  • Preparing applications forms for mentors and mentees.
  • Responding to questions raised by prospective mentors and mentees during the application period.
  • Screening mentee applicants (typically no more than 20) for mentors who have been popularly picked to avoid overwhelming these mentors. Note that this will be the most time-consuming task for the admission phase.
  1. Curriculum

Our mentorship program consists of 5 main legs: (1) resume, (2) school choice, standardized tests, and funding plan, (3) essays, (4) letter of recommendation, and (5) conclusion. An assignment is distributed at the beginning of each leg and must be submitted before the start of the next leg. Tasks for our mentorship curriculum include:

  • Updating assignments from what are already available from previous years.
  • Organizing seminars/workshops to allow learning from successful experiences of mentors and past-mentees, and to discuss each application component in detail.
  • Coming up with new initiatives to further improve the quality of the mentorship.
  • Tracking assignment submission.
  1. External Partnership

Our program currently collaborates with EducationUSA to provide US-mentees with reimbursements for their school or standardized test fees. We are looking to continue this partnership in 2018 and explore partnership with other organizations to support our non-US-mentees.

A mentorship coordinator must:

  • Have strong intrinsic motivation to help Indonesian students improve their chances of being accepted in schools abroad
  • Be able to set aside sufficient time to work in a team environment to deliver the program
  • Be a student or alumni of higher education institution overseas with an Indonesian background.
  • Communicative and responsive to the intense online communication between team members. Punctual and committed to work deadlines.

PARTNERSHIP AND EVENT OFFICERS

Indonesia Mengglobal is looking for two team members in Partnership Division. As the organization just officially became a foundation in 2017, we need a solid Partnership and Event team to expand our reach to Indonesia Mengglobal’s new audience (such as high school students and professional groups), sustain the existing partnership, and look for potential donor, sponsorship, and collaborative opportunities.

Nature of the position

The selected officers are expected to commit on average 3 hours per week during the period with occasional meeting with the team or external partners. This position requires close collaboration with the President, editorial team, and social media team.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for partnership building and fundraising.
  • Act as a focal point for partners’ questions and queries and facilitate the flow of information between partners and IM’s senior management.
  • Project coordination activities with external partners.
  • Relationship management with the existing partners.
  • Building on managing relationships with current and potential partners (embassies, universities, schools, media, businesses, non-profit organizations, governments)
  • Drafting concept notes or a pitch document to prepare and facilitate partnership building.
  • Organize IM’s annual seminar and other IM-related events.
  • Prepare the MOUs (when needed) for projects with external parties.

ANALYTICS

Indonesia Mengglobal is looking for one team member to be part of our core team in the Analytics division. Founded in 2017 as IM’s newest division, the Analytics division has gained reputation as IM’s in-house consultancy arm with deep involvement in all aspects of IM’s activities. From editorial, mentorship, social media, all the way to events, we are advising them in their planning, execution, and post-activity using data-driven decisions. If you enjoy getting to understand how IM works on a big picture and solving some of IM’s largest challenges by data, we are looking for you!

Nature of the position

The Analytics team member is expected to commit on average three hours per week during the period. As the work is done remotely, the team members can be based anywhere.

Roles and responsibilities

To oversee and advice the whole cycle of our activities through data-driven decisions.

  • Assisting the Head of Analytics in creating monthly reports.
  • Gathering and analyzing data from our website, social media, mentorship, and events.
  • Planning our various activities throughout the year together with the other divisions.
  • Developing and communicating recommendations to IM’s division heads and senior management.

  • Proficient in using Office applications – familiarity with data visualization and web analytics software such as Tableau and Piwik is a plus.
