ABOUT US

Established in 2012, IM is a non-profit organization aiming to inspire and inform Indonesians who are keen to pursue education and professional opportunities abroad. We are a growing team of volunteers committed to helping Indonesians thrive on the global stage. Throughout the year, IM volunteers design and execute 3 main programs – website publications, 100% free mentorship program, and offline events/partnerships.

VACANCIES

We are looking for candidates who can commit to volunteering with IM from February 1, 2020 to January 31, 2021.

All positions are part-time and voluntary in nature. While unpaid, volunteering at IM provides a great opportunity to contribute to Indonesia regardless of your country of residence and platform, as well as to expand networks while harnessing your skills.

Available positions:

1. Editorial Division

a. Content Directors (3 pax) – Report to Editor-in-Chief. Responsible for overseeing the whole editorial cycle in their respective regions, such as recruiting 2 guest contributors per month, editing and scheduling 3 website articles, managing 1 columnist, and working on special editorial assignments as assigned by Editor-in-Chief. 

Expected time commitment: 4 hours per week during the period.

Vacancy quota and region: Content Director for Australia/New Zealand/Pacific Islands region; and 2 Content Directors for Asia/Middle East/Africa region. 

Criteria: Indonesian, experience studying/working abroad in region of choice, punctual and committed to deadlines, networks to Indonesian students/alumni in region of choice, demonstrated experience in writing in English and Bahasa Indonesia, communicative and responsive to intense online communications.

b. Columnists (5 pax) – Report to respective Content Director. Responsible for writing 1 article per month in English or Bahasa Indonesia for publication in IM’s website.

Expected time commitment: 5 hours per month during the period

Vacancy quota and region: Columnist for Australia/New Zealand/Pacific Islands region; 2 Columnist for Asia/Middle East/Africa region; Columnist for UK/Europe region; and Columnist for North/Latin America. 

Criteria: Indonesian, experience studying/working abroad in region of choice, punctual and committed to deadlines, and demonstrated experience in writing in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

2. Mentorship Division

a. Mentorship Coordinator (1 pax) – Reports to Director of Mentorship. Responsible for managing IM’s flagship Mentorship program, including outreach, admission, pairing, module/curriculum development, communications, and monitoring/evaluation. 

Expected time commitment: typically 3 hours per week, although may ramp up a few weeks prior to the application deadline and program starting date (April-June).

Criteria: Indonesian, have experience studying abroad (as a full-time student), strong motivation to help Indonesians improve their chances of being accepted in overseas universities, and ability to set aside sufficient time to work in a team for successful program delivery.

3. Event & Partnership Division

a. Event & Partnership Officer (1 pax) – Reports directly to Event & Partnership Manager and under the overall supervision of Director of Event & Partnership. Responsible for supporting E&P Manager in ensuring smooth delivery of IM’s offline events, including liaising with third-party potential and existing partners and donors including government, business, professionals and other non-profit organizations, as well as in charge of the activities pertaining to Yayasan Indonesia Mengglobal.

Expected time commitment: 3 hours per week

Criteria: Indonesian, residence in Jakarta for the next 1 year, demonstrate capacity to build partnerships and to work with external partners, demonstrated event planning and execution skills.

b. Public Relations Officer (1 pax) – Reports directly to Event & Partnership Manager, under the overall supervision of Director of Event & Partnership. Responsible for developing strategic partnerships with prominent national/local media houses, as well as media engagement for IM’s events, including media invitation, press release development and media monitoring.

Expected time commitment: 3 hours per week

Criteria: Indonesian, residence in Jakarta for the next 1 year, excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Bahasa Indonesia, demonstrated media skills (media pitching, press release development, etc.).

4. Communications & Social Media (CSM) Division

a. Director of CSM (1 pax) – Reports to IM President. Responsible for IM’s overall outreach strategy and activities, including designing communications plan, ensuring branding consistency among all communications materials, managing two (2) Social Media Managers and one (1) Videographer to deliver the agreed communications plan, and working closely with other Directors to push special content on IM’s social media and YouTube channel.

Expected time commitment: 4 hours per week

Criteria: Indonesian, excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Bahasa Indonesia, strong and confident leadership, maturity and professionalism to lead a team. Visual design and video editing skills are a plus.

b. Social Media Managers (2 pax) – Reports to Director of CSM. Responsible for maintaining IM’s social media assets, including creating posts, responding to followers’/readers’ inquiries, writing captions/blurbs to boost interest in IM’s articles, managing IM’s social media programs such as monthly Instagram live, as well as working closely with other team members requiring social media assistance.

Expected time commitment: 3 hours per week

Criteria: Indonesian, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia, fluid conversational writing skills in Bahasa Indonesia, understanding/willingness to learn about social media metrics. Ability to design images and create videos are a plus (Photoshop, Canva, iMovie, or Windows Movie Makers).

c. Videographer (1 pax) – Reports directly to Director of CSM. Responsible for filming IM’s speaking engagements, interviews with selected profiles, and offline events as well as editing videos for IM’s YouTube channel and social media.

Expected time commitment: 6 hours per month

Criteria: Indonesian, must reside in Jakarta for the next 1 year, relevant experience in videography and photography, own/have solid access to video equipment and video editing software (Photoshop, Canva, iMovie, Windows Movie Makers, etc.), communicative and responsive behavior.

5. Project Development Division

a. Project Development Officer (1 pax) – Reports directly to Director of Project Development. Responsible for supporting the Director in writing and packaging project proposals and/or concept notes for grant applications, partnership opportunities, and other funding sources that may help expand IM’s reach. The Officer will also facilitate brainstorming, either virtually or in-person, to formulate ideas and develop proposals. Additionally, the Officer will maintain a database and monitoring matrix for all project proposals and coordinate the development of donor reports and other requirements as specified in funding agreements/contracts.

Expected time commitment: 4 hours per week

Criteria: Indonesian, excellent project proposal/concept note writing skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia, presentation and communication skills, quick learner, people skills.

6. Analytics Division

a. Analytics Officer (1 pax) – Reports to Director of Analytics. Responsible for providing research/data analysis support and generating data-driven insights for the various aspects of IM’s work including: i) to gather and analyze data from IM website, social media, mentorship and event and partnership, ii) to support in formulating quarterly IM analytics report (complete with actionable policy recommendations) addressed to the President of IM and IM Board of Advisors.

Expected time commitment: 6 hours per month

Criteria: Indonesian, relevant experience in data analysis (particularly data analysis for non-profit organizations), proficiency in using data visualization and web analytics software e.g. Tableau and Piwik, ability to write and communicate research findings and policy recommendations in English and Bahasa Indonesia. Academic degree in data science is a plus.

Perjalanan Indonesia Mengglobal diawali pada tahun 2012, ketika beberapa mahasiswa Indonesia yang sedang menempuh pendidikan di Stanford University menyadari terbatasnya informasi mengenai belajar dan bekerja di luar negeri. Pada tanggal 9 Maret 2012, artikel pertama Indonesia Mengglobal mengenai tips-tips aplikasi universitas dan beasiswa di luar negeri sukses dipublikasikan. Melalui semangat untuk berbagi tersebut, Indonesia Mengglobal telah mempublikasikan lebih dari 900 artikel mengenai pengalaman belajar dan bekerja di luar negeri yang ditulis oleh lebih dari 500 kontributor, dengan hampir 30,000 subscribers. Setiap tahunnya, Indonesia Mengglobal juga dijalankan oleh puluhan relawan terpilih yang bersemangat untuk menyebar manfaat lebih jauh lagi melalui program mentorship dan annual seminar.
