Graduated from the Dept. of Anthropology UGM Yogyakarta in 2005, worked for a while in several private companies, Karim now is a government officer at the Directorate of Poverty Alleviation BAPPENAS (The Ministry of National Development Planning, Republic of Indonesia). He did an ethnographic research about Intercultural Marriage in Freiburg, Germany for his undergraduate "skripsi" in UGM with a funding from Albert-Ludwig Universitat Freiburg. Currently, he is pursuing a master degree in Applied Anthropology, at the School of Liberal Arts, Indiana University at IUPUI Indianapolis. The issues of globalization, poverty, homelessness, and community development are some of his main concerns. He is now doing an ethnographic research about homeless people in Indianapolis for his master's thesis project.
