IM2020

Indonesia Mengglobal (IM), a non-profit organization established in 2012, is looking for passionate individuals to join the team for February 2021-January 2022. We are a growing team of volunteers committed to assist our fellow Indonesians in realizing their goals of pursuing higher education and or professional opportunities abroad so Indonesians can be even more recognized on the global stage. 

IM provides a great opportunity for you to volunteer, contribute to Indonesia, find a platform to harness your skills, and expand your network globally. All roles in IM’s management team are unpaid.

Content Director – Asia, Africa & Middle East

Nature of the position: Content Director is expected to commit on average 5-6 hours per week during the period. This person will report to the Editor-in-Chief. As the work is done remotely, the Director can be based anywhere.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Working closely with Editor-in-Chief, Columnist, and other regional Content Directors to manage IM’s publications, particularly on editing 3 articles per month – 2 articles from guest contributors and 1 article from columnist;
  • Overseeing the whole editorial cycle for your designated region, from recruiting 2 guest Contributors per month, managing Columnist, to editing, scheduling, and publishing articles;
  • Bringing in new contributors from personal network, apart from assisting those who have signed up to contribute through our site;
  • Handling special editorial publications as assigned by the Editor-in-Chief;

Who are we looking for?

A Content Director must:

  • Be Indonesian, either: a) a current student or b) an alumni of higher education institutions abroad in the region(s) this person has selected;
  • Be able to write well in English and Indonesian. Prior editorial, vlogging, and or blogging experience is a plus.
  • Have considerable network to Indonesian students, professionals, and or alumni, preferably in the region this person has selected;
  • Have good people management, interpersonal skills and be responsive to online communications with contributors and fellow team members.

Columnists – Asia, Africa & Middle East | UK & Europe

Nature of the position: The columnist is expected to commit on average 5 hours per month during the period. This person will report to the Content Directors of their selected region. As the work is done remotely, the columnist can be based anywhere.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Working closely with Content Director of the designated region in publishing 1 article per month (in English or Indonesian), which is aimed at fostering a better understanding of studying/pursuing professional opportunities abroad or life upon return to Indonesia from year(s) abroad;
  • Working on special editorial tasks as assigned by the Editor-in-Chief.

Who are we looking for?

A columnist must:

  • Be Indonesian, either: a) a current student or b) an alumni of higher education institutions abroad in the region(s) this person has selected;
  • Be able to write well in English and Indonesian. Prior editorial, vlogging, and or blogging experience is a plus.
  • Have considerable network to Indonesian students, professionals, and or alumni, preferably in the region this person has selected;
  • Have good people management, interpersonal skills and be responsive to online communications with contributors and fellow team members.

Public Relations Director

Nature of the position: PR Director will work closely with the President and Vice President and is expected to provide advice and conduct programs to strengthen Indonesia Mengglobal’s positive reputation and presence on strategic stakeholders including notable media houses, government and communities. This role is expected to commit on average 4-5 hours per week.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Providing strategic advice on building and strengthening Indonesia Mengglobal’s reputation and thought leadership to the public through media, government, communities and other stakeholders.
  • Leading media engagement initiatives such as media relations, media visit, press release development, press conference, and other programs as required.
  • Maintaining good relationships with other strategic stakeholders. 
  • Taking part in crisis management if it happens.

Who are we looking for?

Public Relations Director must:

  • Have proven experience of working in public relations, journalism or strategic communications (experience working in consultancy / media house is a plus point).
  • Have strong relationship with notable media houses and journalists in Indonesia (and abroad) is highly preferred. 
  • Have strong storytelling skill (especially in writing, both in English and Indonesian)
  • Be creative, critical, and resourceful. 
  • Be self-driven, agile and have good interpersonal skills.

Social Media Managers

Nature of the position: Social Media Managers are expected to commit on average 4-5 hours per week to manage Indonesia Mengglobal’s social media accounts (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook & Twitter). Social Media Managers can be based anywhere and will report directly to the Director of Digital Communications.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Creating and managing IM’s social media accounts to increase and amplify IM’s impact to wider audiences.
  • Provide strategic and relevant insights to enhance IM’s social media presence. 
  • Contacting potential guest profiles for live interviews or other collaboration opportunities;

Who are we looking for?

Social Media Manager must:

  • Be Indonesian.
  • Be social media savvy, up-to-date with the latest social media trends and have demonstrated experience in managing organization social media accounts and digital activations.
  • Have strong editorial and storytelling skills (writing in English and Indonesian). 
  • Be willing to learn about social media metrics to measure the performance of our social media posts.
  • Have prior experience as a social media strategist and/or marketing is a plus point.
  • Have ability to create design and/or video editing is a plus point.

Event Manager

Nature of the position: Event Manager is expected to commit on average 3 hours per week during the period, and occasional meetings with the team or external partners as appropriate (mostly virtually). This person has to be based in Jakarta.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Leading and organizing IM’s annual virtual talks and other events as required.
  • Becoming the Point of Contact for external partners who are interested in conducting events together.
  • Supporting Director of Events & Partnership in managing multiple projects held in collaboration with external partners.

Who are we looking for?

Event Manager must:

  • Be Indonesians residing in Jakarta.
  • Have demonstrated experiences in event management, people management and interpersonal skills, and collaborating with external parties.
  • Be proactive, creative, and have strong entrepreneurial spirit;
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with commitment to be punctual in delivering works;
  • Be fluent in English and Indonesian.

Partnership Manager

Nature of the position: Partnership Manager is expected to commit on average 3 hours per week during the period, and occasional meetings with the team or external partners as appropriate (mostly virtually). This person has to be based in Jakarta.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Leading the engagement with IM’s existing and potential partners.
  • Building a pipeline of potential strategic partners for IM (embassies, universities, schools, private companies, non-profit organizations, governments)
  • Becoming the Point of Contact for external partners who are interested in conducting collaboration.
  • Supporting Director of Events & Partnership in managing multiple projects held in collaboration with external partners.

Who are we looking for?

Event Manager must:

  • Be Indonesians residing in Jakarta.
  • Have demonstrated experiences in partnership, project and people management.
  • Be proactive, creative, and have strong entrepreneurial spirit;
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with commitment to be punctual in delivering works;
  • Be fluent in English and Indonesian.

Event & Partnership Officer

Nature of the position: Event & Partnership Officers are expected to commit on average 3 hours per week during the period, and occasional meetings with the team or external partners as appropriate. This person has to be based in Jakarta.

  • Supporting in developing and organizing IM’s annual virtual talks, seminars and potential partnerships.
  • Supporting Events & Partnership Manager & Director in managing projects held in collaboration with external partners;
  • Relationship management with existing and potential partners (embassies, universities, schools, businesses, non-profit organizations, governments);

Analytics & Strategic Growth Officer

Nature of the position: Analytics & Strategic Growth Officer is expected to commit on average 3 hours per week. As the work is done remotely, they can be based anywhere.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Reporting to Director and Manager of Analytics & Strategic Growth, ASG Officer plays an important role in providing research and insightful data analysis to support decision making for IM’s growth and impact.
  • Gathering and analyzing data from IM’s website, social media, mentorship, and events & partnerships.
  • Formulating IM Analytics Report (complete with actionable policy recommendations) every 3 months addressed to IM Division Directors and IM Foundation Board.

Who are we looking for?

Analytics & Strategic Growth Officer must:

  • Be Indonesian. 
  • Be proficient in using data visualization and web analytics software, e.g. Tableau and Piwik.
  • Have relevant experience in data analysis. Experience in data analysis for non-profit organizations is a plus.
  • Academic degree in IT, computer science, or data science is a plus.
  • Be capable of writing and communicating research findings and policy recommendations in English and Indonesian.

Content Designers

Nature of the position: Reporting to the Digital Communications Director and Social Media Managers, Content Designers have an important role in helping shape the look of Indonesia Mengglobal in social media. They are expected to commit on average 3 hours per week. As the work is done remotely, they can be based anywhere.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Helping curate creative design for social media content and other promotional materials.
  • Supporting Social Media Managers by providing insights on how to enhance and improve IM’s social media look.

Who are we looking for?

Content Designers must:

  • Be Indonesian. We highly encourage the current Indonesian undergraduate students (D3, D4, S1) to apply for this position.
  • Be creative and resourceful.
  • Be proficient in using creative design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, etc.
  • Be willing to be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced and professional environment.

Video Editor

Nature of the position: Reporting to Digital Communications Director and Social Media Managers, Video Editor plays a key role in shaping Indonesia Mengglobal audio visual presence in social media. They are expected to commit on average 1-2 hours per week (time can change according to period). As the work is done remotely, they can be based anywhere.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Producing and editing creative video content for Indonesia Mengglobal.
  • Supporting Social Media Managers and give insights on the current video content trends and how to enhance IM’s YouTube. 

Who are we looking for?

Video Editor must:

Staff at the Office of Vice President

Nature of the position: Staff at the Office of Vice President will work closely with the President and Vice President and play a critical role to support the organization to be well-documented and organized. He/she has the opportunity to see the organization works in a holistic way, and is expected to commit on average 3 hours per week.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Providing support in correspondences with external partners and ensuring the correspondences and administration are well-documented and organized, including Minutes of Meeting, etc.
  • Supporting Public Relations Director on stakeholder relationship management and media engagement efforts.
  • Coordinating with other divisions and supporting other projects as required.

Who are we looking for?

Staff at Office of Vice President must:

  • Be Indonesian. We highly encourage the current Indonesian undergraduate students (D3, D4, S1) to apply for this position.
  • Be proactive, self-driven, well-organized, detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have strong interpersonal and relations management skills.
  •  Have demonstrated college experience as Project Leader, Secretary, or Treasurer.
