FAQ: Indonesia Mengglobal’s Mentorship Program 2024

WHEN IS THE GENERAL TIMELINE OF THE OVERALL PROCESS?

Mentorship involves a special partnership between two people based on each party’s commitment to the mentoring process, common goals and expectations, we will conduct a rigorous assessment prior to the initiation of the mentee-mentor relationship, which details can be found as follows:

WHO ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY AS A MENTEE?

Every Indonesian citizen who aspires to pursue his/her master’s study overseas and is committed to submitting at least 1 (one) application to a university abroad before December 2025.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR MENTEES TO APPLY?

• Prepare the following documents:
  • Personal data.
  • An essay that at least answer the following 4 questions:
    • What your future goal is (related to your future studies),
    • How you think this mentorship would help you,
    • What steps have you taken to demonstrate that you are well-prepared for university admission,
    • What else do you want us to know more about you for further consideration.
  • Relevant Certificate(s) of accomplishment, if any
  • Relevant language skills that are required by the universities you are planning to apply to, i.e., IELTS ≥ 6.5, TOEFL iBT ≥ 79, TOEFL PBT ≥ 550, etc.
    • You may use a prediction score for your application, but the assessment standard may be higher: for example, IELTS ≥ 7.0, TOEFL iBT ≥ 90, TOEFL PBT ≥ 575, Duolinggo ≥ 120, etc.
    • If your language certificate has expired, you may still submit it to apply for this program.
  • Other relevant test scores (i.e. GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT for Business, STEM, Law and Medical studies respectively) that could demonstrate your preparedness to pursue higher education.
• Commitment to follow Indonesia Mengglobal Mentorship Program’s rules and schedules.
• Be open and honest on goals, expectations, challenges, and concerns. Commit to self-development and open to discuss individual development planning with the mentor.
• Assume responsibility for acquiring or improving skills and knowledge – actively listen and ask questions, prepare for meetings and come with an agenda, etc.

HOW IS THE GENERAL APPLICATION PROCESS LIKE FOR A POTENTIAL MENTEE?

• Potential mentees are required to complete an online form, which can be accessed at bit.ly/IMMentee2024.
• In the form, applicants will also need to upload the required documents.
• Selected mentees applicants will be notified by email, and subsequently, will be called up for an aptitude test, which details will be elaborated in the acceptance email.
• Successful mentee applicants who succeed in the aptitude test will be invited for an interview.

WHO ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY AS A MENTOR?

• Every Indonesian who
  • is a (non-exchange) current student at a postgraduate program at any university outside of Indonesia, and/or
  • is an (non-exchange) alumnus of a university outside of Indonesia who has completed postgraduate studies.
• Individual who is committed to staying accessible and engaged, to offer encouragement through genuine positive reinforcement, and to be a positive role model during the length of the mentorship program.
• Individuals with mentorship experience is preferred, but not compulsory.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR POTENTIAL MENTORS TO APPLY?

• Completion of the provided from which can be accessed at bit.ly/IMMentor2024. 
• Compulsory essays to be prepared & submitted:
  • Your motivation to apply as a mentor
  • Since our mentees will have the chance to choose who their top mentors are based on the mentors’ application forms submitted, you are expected to explain why you would be a great mentor for them and how committed you are to help mentees in all aspects of their school application.
• Commitment to follow Indonesia Mengglobal Mentorship Program’s rules and schedules.

HOW IS THE GENERAL APPLICATION PROCESS LIKE FOR A POTENTIAL MENTOR?

• Potential mentors are required to complete an online form, which can be accessed at bit.ly/IMMentor2024.
• Mentor’s profile will be assessed and assigned according to the mentee’s profile. Mentors who have successfully been matched with a mentee applicant will be further notified via email, according to the schedule described above.
• While Indonesia Mengglobal will try its best to match the relevant mentors to the respective mentees, mentors will not be included in the mentorship program when there are no suitable mentees to pair or group with (see the next question).

HOW WILL THE MENTEES AND MENTORS BE PAIRED OR GROUPED?

Pairing/ grouping is carried out based on some preference criteria, including:

• Region (country/continent)
• University
• Programs

Please note that although we will try our best to match the most ideal Mentee-Mentors pairing or grouping, the decision will be determined based on Mentorship team’s final discretion by thoroughly assessing test result, the preference from both Mentee-Mentor, and their profile.

HOW IS INDONESIA MENGGLOBAL MENTORSHIP PROGRAM DIFFERENT FROM SIMILAR PROGRAMS OFFERED BY OTHER INSTITUTIONS?

• Our curriculum, assignments and workshops have been through more than 9 years of development
• Mentees can join the program free of charge.
• Eligible Mentees have the possibility of getting financial aid to take standardized test (eg. IELTS/ TOEFL/GRE/GMAT).
• In the spirit of democratizing access of information and opportunity to study abroad, we are committed to allot 15% of the Mentee slot for applicants from outside Java.
• Our Mentors have first hand experiences in getting accepted to top universities worldwide and/ or securing prestigious funding.
• You will be a part of Indonesia Mengglobal Mentorship Community with more than 700 Indonesians with various backgrounds and expertise.
